The 1st XI had an excellent win on the road to Welwyn Garden City as they did the double over their opponents in the league. Fielding first on a hot day, Hertford did brilliantly to restrict WGC to 249 with wickets coming from Carlson (4/60) and Day (2/17). The top 6 put in an excellent run-chase which led by Lawrance (78) and Ray (64) and expertly finished off by Mikedis (44*) and Leather (35*).
The 2s enjoyed a tense low-scoring win at Balls Park over Watford Town, beating their opponents by 20 runs. Hertford batted first and could only manage 146 thanks largely to 65 from Abeywickrema and a late cameo of 26* by Wilson. A fantastic bowling effort in the 2nd innings by B.Orchard (4/24) and Murphy (2/32) led Hertford to victory.
The 3s were the only team to lose at the weekend and that was in spite of posting a competitive 238 A.O. in their batting innings (Rideout 77; Pavey.S 44). It was, unfortunately, not enough, as their opponents - Aldenham - eased to a 5 wicket victory (Abell.C 2/53; Buse 1/10).
The 4th XI took maximum points from their league match which was conceded by Hatfield & Crusaders, but were also able to win their fill-in friendly fixture against Mill Hill Village which gave valuable time in the middle for the team. Hertford fielded first and restricted Mill Hill to 167/5 from 35 overs (Batra 1/8; Jones.T 1/17) - a total which they chased comfortably for the loss of just 2 wickets (Batra 63*; 58*).
