The 1st XI welcomed Flitwick to Balls Park and ended their season with a well-deserved win by a margin of 53 runs. Batting first, Hertford posted 254 from their 50 overs with Max Lawrance yet again leading from the front with a well-made 93. Max was well supported through with cameos from Leather J (34) and Leather R (32). A really strong bowling display was too much for Flitwick who fell to 203 all out; wickets coming from Leather J (3-28) and Ruskin (2-18).
The 2nd XI made the long drive to Flitwick to face the same opposition. Unfortunately, they could not continue their fine end of season form, capitulating to a score of 80 in their chase of Flitwick’s 195. Murphy ended his strong season on high, taking 3-27, while wickets were otherwise shared between Mercer, Orchard B, Orchard T, Underdown and Celano. 40 at the top of the innings from Joyce was not enough to lead Hertford to victory, as they ultimately fell 115 runs short.
The 3rd XI also lost on the road away to Cheshunt Rosedale. Posting 186/7 from their 50 overs, a commendable effort led by Eaton (42) and Marnoch (39), Hertford were unable to restrict their opponents despite a captain’s performance by Beardsley with the ball who took 4-26 from his 10 overs. Cheshunt Rosedale winners by 6 wickets.
The 4th XI capped off a disappointing final day, losing by 85 runs at home to Old Camdenians. Winning the toss and electing to field first, Hertford were set 229 to win by Old Camdenians with 2 wickets apiece from Spalding, Coleman and Rideout. The run-chase never quite got going as Hertford fell to 143 all out (Benham 31*).
Final league standings to follow shortly.
