Very poignantly just a few hours after the last ball of the 2026 season had been bowled at Balls Park.
Lawrie had borne his health problems in latter years with great fortitude and stoicism – he was still walking round the boundary two weeks ago and was alert to the end.
Lawrie was a quiet titan of Hertford Cricket Club for so long that it is difficult to countenance his loss and the effect he had on so many lives.
A more detailed obituary will follow shortly and funeral arrangements in due course. In the meantime, we extend our sincere condolences to Eleanor, Tom and families.
