A short match report by Kanchana Gamage following Hertford women's match last night.

Hertford women’s team welcomed Kings Langley to Balls Park yesterday evening and, after playing them in the winter indoor league, knew that it would be a tough game!

Kings Langley batted first and Emily kept for HCC for the first time and did a fantastic job. KL started slowly but a few of the players were able to hit boundaries fairly regularly, ultimately putting on a score of 272. HCC's fielding was excellent throughout and some great bowling from Colleen, Kanchana and Becci kept KL's total down.

HCC went out to bat in the 2nd innings but lost wickets quickly. Despite this, we managed to score 217 which is fantastic given it’s only the team’s second game. Excellent efforts from Jodi and Colleen, as well as Emily and Alice, batting well in their pairs.

A lot of positives for us as a team and great to see everyone really enjoying playing cricket. Huge thanks to Kyle for being a dedicated coach to the women’s team. More softball matches in July with hardball training and matches over the coming months.

If you’re keen to join HCC women's, or want to come and try a training session on a Wednesday evening at 6pm, please email - womens@hertfordcricketclub.co.uk
