Hertford won the toss and elected to bat on a good wicket. Steve Page and Nick Horton got us off to a good start, scoring freely for and opening partnership of 81 when Steve was caught off Nash for 43. Nick was joined by Dave Spring (38) to put on 76 for the 2nd wicket. Nick went on to make an excellent 75 with contributions from Del Reddy (17) and Matt Riddle (16 n.o) helping to advance the total to 219/7. Budd taking 3/68 off his 15 overs and preventing the middle order from accelerating. One of our batting performances off the season but there was still some doubt that it was enough on a good wicket.
The opening bowlers had early success with Nash caught by Eric Riddle off Dan Orchard (2/45) but the remaining batsmen all went on to score runs with no2 Jay (40) and no7 Carmichael (80) doing most of the damage. Jonny Underdown bowled well to take 3/62 off 14 overs. The depth off batting was ultimately too good for us and Datchworth reached the total off 39.5 overs losing 6 wickets.
A 3rd consecutive loss for Hertford but another good haul of points keeping us from sliding too far down the league table. Currently we are in 4th place, ahead of the 3 teams that have beaten us!
