Looking to build on a victory against Clifton the previous week. Hertford arrived on the top field in good spirits.

After losing the toss Hertford were asked to bat on a decent looking batting track, Rob Mccarroll played a couple of glorious shots before being ‘caught behind’ rob not sure he was anyway near the ball. Ickleford and the umpire said otherwise. Connor Ives went in 3 and batted solidly. Whilst others fell around him the score slipped to 42-4, Adam Marnoch and Connor played smart cricket, ticked the scoreboard over until Connor mistimed a pull shot a fell for a well made 44.

The skipper came in at 92-5 looking to build another partnership and propel the side to a competitive total, Adam and Codd upped the rate with a mixture off aggressive shots and calculated running before Adam guided a wide ball straight in to the keeps gloves (other options were available, he even said he had never played that shot before). From the the lower order supported the skipper to a decent score of 211.

Icklefords reply began at a 100 miles an hour with the first over costing 13. Boundary balls and some lacklustre fielding allowed the openers to get away. Although Ives did manage to tie down one opener for a period of time and a missed edge from the umpire proved costly. Spin was introduced and brought about a wicket, but from then on ickleford played smart cricket and with no real sustained pressure easily kept with the rate. Rain then reared it’s head and brought about a stoppage in play, that looked like it may pass however such was the downpour it brought about a premature end to the game. Ickleford winning by 9 wickets by way of being above the required run rate.

Next up is another home game against Radlett, weather permitting!
