The first game of the second half of the season gave hertford a chance to rectify early season batting issues. After being put into bat the first 10 overs showed improvement and with the score at 36-1 there was cause for optimism...

However as we know with the 3’s the moment there is optimism with the bat there shortly follows a collapse and today was no different. 5 overs later and the score was 56-6. Skipper Codd arrived in the middle determined to not get bundled out cheaply again and together with Hesh they blunted the Frogmore attack and built a partnership, that was until Hesh got out in typical fashion with his Pietersen-esc flamingo flick through mid wicket which caught a leading edge and popped back to the bowler, 161-7 with overs in hand.

From here the tail as always this year wagged and with contributions from the Bartlam's the 3’s posted a respectable (and remarkable given the early struggles) 238/8.

The Frogmore reply began at a fast pace, with a very short boundary one side and Ben orchard charging in from the top end the ball was flying off the bat. The breakthrough cane from Adam Marnoch who was making his 3rd team return from his spiritual retreat around the world. From then on though the frogmore Batsmen could not be Contained and with some big hitting were chasing the target with ease. Only one other moment of joy for the bowling side, with an assist from the supporting 1st XI who were egging on the frogmore batsmen to ‘go large’ he tried one shot to many and was caught at short mid wicket. Frogmore chased the target easily after that inside 35 overs and only 2 down.

To much loose bowling and four balls allowed them to get away. However the positive is that for only the second time this season the team has batted all overs and scored over 200. More 200+ scores and a return to the usual bowling performances will surely bring wins in the remaining games.
