On the hottest day of the year so far the 3’s travelled to table toppers London Colney.
On what looked like a flat deck the home team won the toss and batted first.
Scoring was slow and Hertford took wickets at regular intervals. Spin in particular was hard to get away. At 40 over, the score was 150-4. From then on the home side looked to accelerate with boundaries and two’s coming regularly. With the last three overs in sight the score was 225-6, the momentum then swung Hertfords way with 3 runs and 3 wickets in the last 3 overs, 229 to chase.
The reply started well and by the first drinks break Hertford were well placed at 66-2 off 17 overs. Dave Shearn and Raj at the crease looking to build and put the team in a decent position. What preceded was another batting collapse with some poor shots and ill discipline reduced the score to 124 all out.
Hertford are at home next game in the last of the first round of fixtures against North Mymms.
