Winning the toss, Hertford batted first and got off to the worst possible start with Dave Shearn out first ball of game. Rob Wood and Alex cooke rebuilt the innings and were looking comfortable until Alex was run out needlessly. Wood followed soon after and then preceded a middle order collapse. The lower order provided some stern resistance to post a below par total of 191, which if we bowled well, could prove to be a tricky total.
Hertford started brightly and had Rickmansworth 3 down early doors with Flynn picking up 2. Beardsley bowled well again for the second week running. However, as with the previous week, dropped catches and too many four balls allowed Rickmansworth to build a total. With no sustained pressure, they eased to a 7 wicket win.
Next up for the 3’s is an away trip to Bentley Heath where we hope for an all-round performance to give us our first win of the 2019 season.
