Dear members and friends of Hertford Cricket Club, please forward on to friends, relatives etc.

This is to let you know that this year the club will be expanding our Sunday morning junior coaching programme to incorporate two programmes which are aimed at children between 5 and 10. These will run on Sundays on the outfield of the main ground at Balls Park, Mangrove Road, Hertford SG13 8AJ. The two programmes are ‘All Stars’ cricket and Kwik Cricket.

All Stars is a new initiative from the English Cricket Board and the Club is keen to try it out. The Club will compare the two programmes at the end of the summer and a decision will be taken on the way forward after that review.

Please take time to review the details of the two programmes to understand which one is right for your son or daughter.

ALL STARS

Aimed at children aged 5-8. Starting May 13th running every Sunday until July 1st, 10am – 11am.

You need to register and find more information about All Stars cricket at www.allstarscricket.co.uk. The cost is £45 for all sessions and within this cost your child will receive personalised kit (Bat, ball, t-shirt, rucksack and cap).

All Stars cricket is suitable for all children new to cricket. Basic skills will be taught, including:

  • Batting - hitting a moving ball
  • Throwing - underarm and overarm
  • Catching
  • Bowling – Overarm
  • Running - lots of movement
  • Teamwork- fun games
  • Communication- basics of cricket
  • The Spirit of cricket - how to respect others

KWIK CRICKET

Aimed at children aged 7-10. Starting 13th May running every Sunday until 22nd July. 10am – 12noon.

£4 per child, per session and the children just turn up, pay and play.

Kwik cricket teaches the basic cricket skills of batting, bowling and fielding so that the children can progress quickly to playing in well-organised Kwik cricket games. The younger children may not have played cricket before while the older ones are coming along to practice and improve the skills they have already learned in previous years. The children move quickly from one exercise to another so that they cover all of the cricket skill areas in a two hour session. The children will be working hard but we also throw in some fun games as part of each session.

For both programmes, parents can stay to watch, or leave and return later, as they please. Refreshments are available for the parents who stay to watch: tea, coffee, bacon rolls etc.

Please pass this information on to friends and neighbours who would like their children to play junior cricket at Hertford C.C.
