Junior Cricketers - Welcome to the 2018 season at Hertford Cricket Club!

Dear Parent/Cricketer,

Welcome to the new season. We are looking forward to an exciting season and continuing to build on our development program from last season.

Notable highlights from 2017 include the U9’s, U14’s and U15’s reaching the knockout stages of the Herts Junior League Competition. Also, our U15’s side hosted Voorburg CC from Holland. As you can see from the note below, they thoroughly enjoyed the day at Herford and would welcome any of our age groups to visit/tour in the near future:

We should like to thank you very much for the generous hospitality which we experienced during our visit to Hertford and surroundings.

Hertford CC is a beautiful club with wonderful people who have given our children an unforgettable experience. The cricket match between our U15 teams had a high standard and a deserved winner. The sandwiches, pizzas, coffee, tea and drinks after the match underlined your wonderful hospitality for which we thank you dearly. Please feel free to visit our club Voorburg CC on the outskirts of the Hague any time in the hopefully near future. Best regards,

Patrick and Dorith de Leede

The junior section is our club’s pride and joy. If your child shows a spark of interest in the game, we believe we can turn that into a lifelong passion. We have approximately 170 young cricketers of all ages and of all abilities.

Our main aim is for children to enjoy playing the game but we also take their safety and wellbeing very seriously. Hertford Cricket Club has now been Clubmark accredited for 13 years and we successfully completed our renewal last season.

The ECB Clubmark scheme covers:

  • Duty of care and safeguarding children
  • The Cricket programme
  • Knowing your club and its community
  • Club management

We are inspected every 3 years for re-accreditation (next renewal 2020).

Summer Training commences from the week beginning 17th April, 6pm to 7.30pm:

The U10’s and U12’s will also be entered into the Lancot Trophy Tournament held at Dunstable.

Volunteering
We do place heavy reliance on volunteers (usually parents) to manage and coach teams. Without these volunteers we would be unable to fulfill fixtures at any given age group.

We always need people to help manage, assist in coaching at all age groups. Managing involves selecting a squad for a match, overseeing the squad and may be umpiring or scoring the match. If you are interested and would like more information please contact the age group coach or myself.

We are also seeking Parents to help with the following roles - organising fund raising, administration duties (Junior Player database, chase outstanding subscriptions, take minutes at meetings (no more than 4 a year). Assist current Child Welfare Officer, update website with junior colts’ news/match reports/socials.

If you are interested and would like more information please contact the age group coach or myself.
