Cricket Week is upon us!

Cricket week is the centre-piece in the cricketing calendar and this year promises to be one of the best. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday promise to provide competitive and entertaining games before the cricketing extravaganza kicks in on Thursday and Friday all culminating with the Summer Party on Friday evening!

Monday: Cricket Week 2017 is upon us and it all kicks-off with the regular cup opener against Southgate CC. Both teams have battled for the Hertgate Trophy since 1995, Southgate having won it 13 times and Hertford 8 times. The last two years have seen Hertford win the trophy, both in very tight games and they aim to continue to close that gap this year.
Hertford XI:
G. Pavey (c), J. Riddle, H. Cavener, M. Lawrance, C. Marques, S. Barker, T. Orchard, D. Orchard, B. Golder, B. Dawson, B. Orchard

Tuesday: Sees Hertford play Weekenders CC, a game always played in excellent spirit where young Hertford batsman have stamped their authority over the past two years. Who can forget Tom Orchards maiden hundred in 2016, or Ben Davis’ stat-busting 204* in 2015.
Hertford XI:
N. Hillary (c), N. Horton, M, Lawrance, N. Osborn, J. Clark, S. Pavey, C. Ives, S. Ives, J. Underdown, S. McIntyre, D. Orchard

Wednesday: The Ware game is up next, Hertford have won both the previous two cricket-week-encounters but Hertford might find a sterner test ahead this year. Hugh Cavener leads a young side (and David Spring) into this middle-of-the-week-fixture.
Hertford XI:
H. Cavener (c), M, Lawrance, D. Orchard, T. Orchard, J. Underdown, N. Osborn, C. Ives, S. McIntyre, D. Spring, O. Riddle

Thursday: Hertford have the privilege of hosting the MCC this year in what is anticipated to be a fixture boasting some seriously high-class cricket. The MCC will be strong and so Hertford are fielding a solid team, this promises to be an excellent game and spectators are encouraged to come down and make this a fantastic day.
Hertford XI:
R. Leather (c), W. Ray, J. Leather, E. King, I. Harris, S. Barker, B. Cowell, G. Pavey, A. Carlson, B. Orchard, R. Slater.

Friday: Cricket week is wrapped-up with its usual finale featuring the President’s XI in another fixture that features strong teams played in a great spirit. This contest nearly always features plenty of runs, and a chase that goes down to the wire – the Friday of cricket week always proves to be a great day in the year and is topped off with the Summer Party in the evening!
Hertford XI:
W, Ray (c), E. King, R. Slater, H. Cavener, M. Lawrance, A. Carlson, G. Pavey, J. Leather, S. Cordingley, R. Cordingley, A. Chalker
